A lofty Tree of Rock & Roll
The masterpiece of Zheng Wei The Tree to which he has dedicated eight
months is approaching the end of the creation process. It will be displayed
in Beijing Art Now Gallery on the afternoon of December 10.
This 577*380 piece of works is created with wood engraving and a complex
of materials. It presents 185 famous guitar players (wood engraving, on board)
from the end of the 19th century to the 1970s. As a superfan of Rock & Roll,
Zheng Wei said that this massive piece of works was completed by himself
without any assistance. With the Blues-Rock & Roll as the main clue, he also
included representatives of jazz and
country music. Zheng said that he fell in love with those musicians through
listening and reading. Although some of them may not be listed as top guitar
players, they are all great musicians in his mind. However, it is a pity that he
could not present more musicians due to the size of the board (although it is
already huge), for example, some superstars in the 1970s and after.
This is a massive piece of works. Rock & Roll is like a tree with thriving
leaves and branches.
